John Bacevice, Jr. to present at upcoming NEO Law Directors Association Seminar
The next monthly meeting of the Northeast Ohio Law Directors Association will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2019, at 11:45 a.m., at the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, One Cleveland Center, 1375 East 9th Street, Floor 2, Cleveland, Ohio.
This meeting will be NEOLDA’s monthly meeting plus a 1.0 hour educational seminar. The Association has applied to the Ohio Supreme Court Commission on Continuing Legal Education for 1.00 CLE credit hour but has not yet received approval of the same.
The seminar is entitled, “When Your Opponent Tries the Case Against Your Public Officials or Police Officers in the Media.” This one-hour seminar will be presented by an experienced municipal litigation attorney and a crisis communications and media expert. Attorney Jack Bacevice of Mansour Gavin and former Assistant Director of Law for the City of Cleveland and Thomas Fladung, Managing Partner of Hennes Communications and former Managing Editor of The Plain Dealer will be presenting. Municipal law directors and other counsel to political subdivisions will benefit from this presentation as litigation against public officials and police officers continues to receive an inordinate amount of media scrutiny and coverage and is often used by a party to attempt to gain some level of advantage in the litigation, whether it is claims of abuse of power, tort claims or involving 42 USC §1983 actions.
The lunch price for members is $20.00. Nonmember attendees will be charged $25.00. All amounts are payable at the door. Checks can be made out to the “Northeast Ohio Law Directors Association.”
NOTE: Please arrive promptly as the meeting will begin at 11:45 a.m. The speaker will begin promptly at 12:30 p.m. and finish by 1:30 p.m.
