 Brendon Friesen will be a member of the speaking faculty at the National Business Institute’s Manufacturing Law seminar on June 26 at the CMBA Conference Center. The day-long seminar will address the complex legalities of the manufacturing law industry, serving as a comprehensive legal, practical, and tax compliance guide for attorneys, accountants, manufacturing owners/operators/managers, and paralegals. Friesen was asked to participate because of his extensive knowledge of and experience with the complexities of intellectual property and will address patents, trade secrets, trademarks and copyrights, international registrations/disputes, licensing, and more. Mansour Gavin LPA celebrated National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day on Friday, December 16th with what else – an ugly Christmas sweater contest, of course!  From glitter to lights to sequins, our finest holiday apparel was on display.  While all participants looked fantastic, we crowned our billing department supervisor, Ann Frederick, as the winner.  A second place tie was awarded to paralegal Michele Kerling and billing department clerk Bojana Bebic.  Thanks to everyone who joined in on the fun, and we hope your holidays are just as festive as our sweaters!

All of us at Mansour Gavin LPA watched the NBA playoffs hoping that maybe, just maybe, this was Cleveland’s year.  We hosted Cavaliers dress down days to benefit charities, employed various good luck charms like lucky suits to ensure a win, and had plenty of water cooler discussions about the previous night’s games.  And when the 2016 NBA Champion Cleveland Cavaliers hosted their victory parade and rally last Wednesday, June 22nd, we had an amazing bird’s eye view of the festivities from our office. The pictures above were taken at 8:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and when LeBron (finally) came through around 2:30 p.m. Bonus points if you can find him in the crowd!

The female attorneys of Mansour Gavin LPA hosted their second annual Women’s Night Out on Tuesday, June 21st, at Merwin’s Wharf in the Flats. Attendees enjoyed drinks and hors d’oeuvres from the Cleveland Metroparks restaurant, and listened to Saana Julien, CEO, Public Square Programming and Operations, speak about her experiences getting Public Square ready for its grand opening and plans for the future of the location. Many thanks to those who joined us, and we hope to see you back next year!

Mansour Gavin LPA President Tony Coyne, a member of the firm’s Real Estate and Land Use practice group, was recently named an Alumni of the Year by Cleveland-Marshall College of Law’s Alumni Association.  Coyne, along with co-honoree, Tucker Ellis Partner Carter Strang, were recognized at the annual CMLAA Luncheon.  Tony’s involvement with the City of Cleveland and Planning Commission, as well as all of his work as chairman of the Group Plan Commission, which spearheaded the redevelopment of Public Square, were highlighted as examples of his community involvement.  Congrats, Tony, on a well-deserved award!

Mansour Gavin LPA congratulates John Monroe, a shareholder and member of the firms’ executive committee, on his recent appointment as President of Euclid City Council.  Mayor Kirsten Holzheimer Gail appointed Monroe in February when Euclid City Council was deadlocked over appointing her replacement.  John is a lifelong resident of Euclid and previously served on Euclid Planning & Zoning Commission as both the Chairman and Vice Chairman.

Mansour Gavin both participated in and served as a sponsor of the recent 2016 HeartBeat 5k, presented by the American Heart Association Young Professionals Board.  Held on a recent Saturday at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, Team MG reported gorgeous weather and a fun race.  Looking forward to 2017!

Mansour Gavin would like to congratulate Swagelok Company employment and compliance counsel, Adrienne Stemen, for being a selected honoree at yesterday evening’s Women Honoring Women reception! The event was put on by the Women in Law section of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, and Adrienne was recognized in the In-House category for both her professional and community activities.  We’ve had the pleasure of working with Adrienne for the last couple of years as outside counsel for Swagelok, and can say first-hand that the award was well-deserved. Other award recipients included Ann M. Porath, The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland, in the Public Sector category; Kerin Lyn Kaminski, Giffen & Kaminski, LLC, in the Law Firm category; Kristen Cavin, Forest City Enterprises, Inc., in the Rising Star category; and Maria L.
